Thank you for stopping by! My name is Ameera, an Indian expat raised & residing in sunny Dubai. I started ‘Strokes in the Sand’ in early 2016, to revive my long lost high-school passion of calligraphy and hand lettering. Quitting my almost decade-old engineering job and becoming a stay-at-home mom meant that I could dedicate more focused time on developing this passion.

 

With the increasing popularity of this lost art on social media, I decided to start my own Instagram page. The response has been incredible! I have since conducted several in-person workshops teaching & spreading this art to fellow enthusiasts in the UAE whilst creating fun projects for friends and family from time to time. I have also dabbled in product design - mugs and polymer stamps. The high point of my journey so far has been working with brands providing live/on-site personalized calligraphy for their marketing events!

 

I love design, I lean towards clean and classic aesthetics, and this shows in my work. I am a proud ARTE (Artisans of the Emirates) Vendor and exhibit handlettered goodies for purchase there, occasionally. So do check with me when I'll be there next!
